Foreigners and stateless persons who have come to the Republic of Azerbaijan for work in the manner and on the grounds established by legislation must obtain a work permit and a residence permit.

What is a work permit?

Foreigners and stateless persons who want to engage in labor activity are required to obtain a work permit in order to engage in paid labor activity in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the procedure established by the Migration Code.

To obtain a work permit, the documents required for issuing a work permit must be sent to the relevant executive authority. Documents required for issuing a work permit can be submitted in the form of a written or electronic application. According to the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On period fees", the appeals are considered according to the amount of the state fee paid for the period provided by that law.

Work permit is issued for 1 year. If the duration of the employment contract is less than 1 year, the duration of the work permit is limited to the period of validity of the contract. The term of the work permit can be extended for a period of no more than 1 year each time. With the given work permit, a person can work only in one enterprise, and with the same work permit, it is not allowed to work in another enterprise.
